Honestly, I understand him, and I wouldn't rise a hand. I hate a people's attention at all. I hate to be in meetings, parties, where more than three persons etc. Exception, if all people well known and I like them. So, yes, if rising a hand does not give any benefits besides of vainglory, I'd pass.
